On Wednesday, Barkas police busted a fake currency racket by arresting a person and the other three gang members are still absconding.
The police seized the currency worth 5lakh in 1,000 denominations, along with original the currency of 2.80lakh.
The accused, Ghouse, a 48-year-old fruit seller from Mohammed nagar was identified as Mohd.
According to officials, the fake currency was printed in the Malda district of West Bengal and brought to Hyderabad by Ghouse.
N. Eon Reddy, additional DCP said, “In 2012, while Ghouse was in jail he met Mohd. Islam from West Bengal, who was also involved in counterfeit.Islam, gave him the number of his brother Imamul Haq. He was in touch with Haq since then. Recently, he asked Imam for fake currency”.
