Kanpur, March 12: Police here today claimed to have busted a racket supplying artificial ghee in the markets and recovered 10 quintal of the synthetic milk fat from their possession. Four persons have also been arrested in this connection.
“Acting on a tip-off, yesterday we raided a house in Juhi area of the city and recovered 10 quintal of artificial ghee,” police spokesperson said. Empty boxes of branded companies and a machine used for packaging have also been recovered.
“They also used to supply artificial tea leaves and salt in the markets after packaging them in boxes of branded companies,” he added. The accused have been identified as Santosh Gupta, Sriram Vajpayee, Ashish and Ajay Khare.
