Hoshiarpur (Punjab), July 15: With the arrest of four persons, police today claimed to have busted an inter- state gang of luxury car snatchers.
The gang members were arrested from Baneshah area here, Hoshiarpur SSP Rakesh Aggarwal told reporters.
However, two of their accomplices managed to escape, he said.
Police recovered two revolvers, two pistols, 10 live cartridges and three empty shells from their possession.
According to Aggarwal, the gang used to hire luxury cars from taxi stands from various towns to Chandigarh and after reaching there, they used to give tea or coffee laced with intoxicated pills or powder to the driver of the vehicle and flee away with the car.
A number of stolen luxury cars were also recovered from their possession, he said.
One person from Ludhiana, who used to purchase the stolen cars, was also arrested, Aggarwal said.
