Mumbai Police comes to a decision to block the social networking sites that features cartoons carried by Charlie Hebdo.
As reported in Hindustan Times, over 650 social media posts have been blocked, with the police monitoring every post/page that they come across, said police spokesperson Dhananjay Kulkarni.
“We are in constant touch with the authorities managing the server of a popular networking site based in the United States of America (USA) to immediately block such posts and provide us with the IP address of the account holders,” Kulkarni said.
The police have not divulged which social networks were being censored but urged residents of Mumbai to make sure that they do not post content which can disturb the law and order situation and also restraint while posting such content on the web.
