A delegation of Muslim intellectuals and the members of social activist groups approached the Human Rights Commission and brought to their notice the incident of arresting Mansoor Babu Khan for no reason.
He was beaten up by the police. The delegation included Dr. Hasanuddin Ahmed IAS (Rtd) former Chairman AIP. Minorities Commission, Major Syed Ghouse Mohiuddin Quadri, President, Help Hyderabad, Mr. Hamid Mohammed Khan, President of Movement for Peace and Justice, Mr. Ziauddin Nayyar (Iqbal Academy), Ms. Arshia Ayyub, and others.
On the petition submitted by the delegation, the chairman of Human Rights Commission issued instructions to enquire the matter and submit a report before 18th April 2012 to the Commission. Principal Secretary (Home) was also asked to submit the report.
After meeting the Human Rights Commission, talking to the media persons, the members of the delegation expressed their anxiety over the cruel attitude of the police. They said that due to the violation of human rights by a few communal minded police officers, the entire police department and Govt. are getting a bad name.
They told that Minorities are also part of the country. This kind of cruel attitude of the police will not be tolerated any more. Major Quadri warned that segregating the Muslims will lead to serious consequences. He demanded for the removal of DCP West Zone Mr. Stephen Ravindra and his Police Party. The DCP should be suspended immediately and an enquiry should be instituted against the police. Police atrocities won’t be tolerated any more in any part of the city of Hyderabad.
