Jaipur: Curfew has been in four police station areas of Jaipur after violence between the locals and the police erupted killing at least one and injuring dozen.

The incident occurred after police constable allegedly assaulted a motorcycle-borne couple during a routine vehicle check on late last night (Friday).

Dainik Bhaskar quoted saying a man named Sajid was going with a bike with his wife Arsi and daughter.

They alleged that the policeman allegedly hit the Muslim woman and his daughter sitting on a motor bike with a lathi (baton) .

After this, at around 9 pm, the youth reached the police station to file a complaint.

According to eyewitnesses, within minutes,  hundreds of people amassed in front of the Ramganj police station and started to create ruckus. Police tried to pacify the violent mob but failed and started to pelt stones and burnt vehicles.

When the situation went out of control, police resorted to lathicharge.

Police ordered that shots be fired in air to disperse the crowd, in which one person, identified as Mohammed Raees, was killed.
