UP police asks CBI to return its seized arms

Muzaffarnagar, April 09: The Uttar Pradesh police has asked the CBI to return its arms seized in connection with a police firing incident 16 years ago, officials said today.

The police had opened fire on Uttarakhand activists on October 2, 1994 following which the CBI registered about two dozen cases against officials on charges of wrongful
confinement of demonstrators, committing rape and fabricating police records with the intent to save the accused.

The CBI had seized police arms, including two rifles,a carbine and two gas guns, they said.
