Hyderabad, December 02: Anticipating that the alleged militant, Viqar Ahmed alias Ali Khan, having links with terror outfits like HUJI and said to be a member of the proscribed Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), might try to create disturbance on or before December 6, the Babri Masjid demolition day, the Hyderabad City Police has requested the public to pass on any information about him to the control room on the telephone number 100.
Viqar, who opened fire on the sleuths of Counter-Intelligence Cell at IS Sadan in December last year, is also suspected to be involved in the shootout at Falaknuma on May 18 this year, the second anniversary of Mecca Masjid bomb blasts.
The available information suggests that Viqar is moving with Shaik Najiullah alias Najji, a Lashkar-e-Toiba trained militant and grandson of Shaik Mahaboob Ali, president of fundamentalist outfit Darsgah-Jihad-O-Shahadat (DJS).
In a press release, Hyderabad Police Commissioner B Prasada Rao said that Viqar, a resident of Old Malakpet was a highly motivated Ahle Hadees follower with Jihadi ideology. “He joined DJS by concealing his identity, on the name of Ali Khan and learnt martial arts among other selfdefence techniques for one year,’’ Prasada Rao said.
Rao said that Viqar, known to change his appearance in a flash, spent a lot of time browsing internet and downloading data from various terrorist sites and also acquired knowledge on preparation of explosives. He made Jihadi CDs and circulated them to Muqemuddin Yaser and Baleequddin Jaber, both sons of Moulana Naseeruddin, president of Tehreek Tahfooz Sharia-e-Islam (TTSI).
Both Yaser and Jaber in turn gave the CDs to Safdar Nagori, Adnan, Raziuddin Naser (another son of Moulana) and a LeT trained militant who was arrested last year in Karnataka. Since July 2007, Viqar went underground along with one Syed Amjad Ali alias Suleman of Santoshnagar.
