Jaipur: Police today arrested a 22-year-old girl and her male friend for concocting a gangrape story to extort Rs 5 lakh from one of the four accused with whom she had a consensual relationship, police said.
The girl had on Tuesday complained to police that she was raped by four persons, including Sandeep Lamba and Brijesh among others, the previous night.
She had alleged that they raped her when she was returning after taking a test on Monday and later dumped her near a technical institute.
The police, however today said, the girl had a consensual sex at a rented accommodation with Sandeep Lamba.
“After hearing the story narrated by the girl, we verified the facts and collected evidences,” Jaipur Police Commissioner Sanjay Agarwal said at a press conference today.
According to the police, the girl had contacted Sandeep Lamba, a resident of Mansarovar area, and asked him to come at a rented accommodation, where she had consensual sex with him.
Later, his male friend, Ramphal Meena scratched her and made her drink pesticide to stage it as a crime incident to the police, they said.
“We found that Meena, his male friend, was in continuous touch with the girl and after intense interrogation the duo accepted the crime,” he said.
The girl and his 23-year-old friend, a resident of Bajirpur in Swai Madhopur district, were today arrested under IPC section 384 (Extortion), he said.
The accused also has past criminal records in Swai Madhopur district for forgery and extortion, they said.
Six mobile phones and 15 SIM cards have also been recovered from his possession.
