Police arrest trickster for stealing 570 grams of gold

The Habeebnagar police apprehended one person on Friday, for duping scores of people with his false promise of performing good luck charm on gold ornaments and stealing them, during the year 2012. They seized 570 grams of gold worth Rs 11,40,000.

According to police, the accused was identified as Mohammed Mehboob Pasha, 30, Cook and a native of Gudur in Kurnool district, residing in Borabanda. He was booked in six different cases for cheating, during the year 2012 under Habeebnagar, Jubilee Hills and S R Nagar police station limits. He stole ornaments with the promise of doing ‘bandish’ to gold ornaments. “The accused was inspired from a comedy scene performed by Brahmanandam in a Telugu movie Indira”, said West Zone DCP A Venkateshwara Rao.
