Police arrest 4 in 11 tones copper wire theft

The Malkagiri police arrested four member of gang including iron scrap businessmen, out of 10 involved in thefting of copper weighing 11 tones from a vehicle, here today and recovered Rs 45 lakh worth wire from them. Based on the complaint on June 6 that unknown offenders about 10 to 12 gained entry into the Wire Company located at IDA Nacharam, city outskirts, with deadly weapons and forcibly tied the hands of the security persons and other workers by threatening with dire consequences and stolen away copper wire and enameled copper wire in the DCM van weighing about 11 tones and fled away, a special team was formed to breakthough the theft, police said in a release here.

On information, the police rushed to Aramgarh ‘X’ roads located at Rajendernagar and apprehended the accused Yerrani Jagadish Robert alias Jagadish, who is a cooking master in Hitech Dabha, at Keesara Mandal in Ranga Reddy district. On interrogation, the 28-year-old robber, a native of Vijayanarayanapuram village in Tunelveli District of Tamilnadu, confessed to have committed the offence of IDA Nacharam and arrested the remaining three involved in the crime.

However, another six, who were all belonging to Bihar state, accused in the case were absconded. All the arrested including Mohd. Afsar Khan(28), Syed. Ghouse Pashas (24) and P Srinivas (30), who were all iron scrap businessmen, were being produced before the Court. Yerrani Jagadish was earlier arrested by L.B Nagar Police for extortion of one Narsimha Reddy, as Pseudo Naxlite and was sent to judicial remand while the prime accused Rajesh Yadav, who was absconded, was earlier arrested by the Shivarampally Police on different cases in 2011 and sent to judicial remand, the release added.
