Police arrest 11 in advocate’s murder case

Hyderabad, April 18: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Cyberabad police, on Sunday arrested 11 persons allegedly involved in the murder of an advocate, Ashok Reddy near Serilingampally Tehsildar office on March 26 and recovered eight hunting sickles, Scorpio car and two wheelers at the instance of arrested.

The arrested include Suraram Prathap Reddy, Suraram Dasharath Reddy, Suraram Jagadeshwar Reddy, Suraram Chandrasekhar Reddy, Suraram Anji Reddy, Suraram Krishna Reddy, Suraram Srinivas Reddy, Tuljaram Vikas Singh, Voggu Krishna, Aila Sathyanarayana Goud and Naresh Singh.

Police said the motive for the murder was a land dispute between Eedulakanti Sanjeeva Reddy and Suraram Prathap Reddy and his brothers and family members regarding the ownership of three acres and three guntas land in Survey Numbers 50, 61 and 74 in Nanakramguda village of Serilingampally Mandal. The deceased, Ashok Reddy, was the lawyer of Mr. Sanjeeva Reddy. The dispute arose in 1975 and recently Ashok Reddy helped his client get a favourable order from the Supreme Court.

The accused allegedly developed grudge and enmity against Ashok Reddy for his persistent support and follow up legal action in the litigation, and were desperate to settle scores. On the day of the murder, all the accused waited at the Serilingampally Tehsildar’s office where Ashok Reddy had planned to come. They first threw chilly powder in his eyes and attacked him with sickles, police said. The SIT consisted of M.S. Venu Gopal, ACP (Crimes), R. Sanjay Kumar, Inspector of Police, RGI Airport police station and B. Srinivas Rao, Inspector of Police, Yacharam.
