Police action against Telangana journalists and lawyers condemned

Telangana Rashtra Samithi and Telangana Political Joint Action Committee demanded judicial enquiry of the police action against the journalists and lawyers on the occasion of the release of an anti-Telangana book at Press Club, Basheerbagh two days back.

They also condemned the release of book opposed to Telangana.

Mr. T. Harish Rao, MLA, Mr. K. Tarakarama Rao, MLA, Prof. Kodandaram, President of Telangana Joint Action Committee, Mr. Srinivas Goud, Mr. K. Vithal and other leaders went to hospital to enquire about the health of the injured journalists and expressed their sympathies.

They told that the supporters of integrated AP under the stewardship of Mr. Prabhakar have dared to publish a book against Telangana Movement in Telangana region. They demanded to take action against the erring police officers. Mr. Tarak Rama Rao told that the Andhra leaders have no right to come to Telangana to hurt the people of this region. He asked cant we register our protest? He told that hundreds of students are sacrificing their lives for the cause of separate Telangana. Ms. Renuka Chowdhary and P. Prabhakar are issuing anti-Telangana statements to weaken the Telangana movement. He further told that the people who don’t have public contact, were trying to release the anti-Telangana book. He regretted the attack on the agitators who were protesting in a democratic way. He also told that the activities of Seema Andhra leaders in the Press Club of Hyderabad are deplorable.

When a leader of Jai Andhra Movement, tried to organize a press conference in Vijayawada to support the cause of Telangana, he was not permitted by the press club there. He asked why is different treatment being meted out to Telangana and Seema Andhra leaders.

Prof. Kodandaram supported the protest of Telangana students and lawyers in Press Club condemned the attitude of police. He warned that if anti-Telangana activities are carried out in Telangana Region, its consequences would be serious Mr. Srinivas Goud and Mr. Vithal Rao warned the Seema Andhra leaders not to create hatred among the people by their activities. They also challenged Mr. P. Prabhakar openly for discussions.
