Polavaram Ordinance Withdraw or face movement, VH warns Centre

Demanding that the Centre immediately withdraw Polavaram Ordinance meant for “looting Telangana resources” by Andhra Pradesh leaders post bifurcation, Congress former MP V Hanumantha Rao today said the Centre has taken a unilateral decision. He warned that the Congress would launch a movement against the Centre until it rolls back the ordinance.
Speaking to mediapersons here, Hanumantha Rao accused Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Union Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu of colluding to hoodwink the people of Telangana State in this regard. The Congress will go with the TRS Government if necessary to fight against the Centre, he said.
Hanumantha Rao expressed serious concern on the Polavaram Ordinance allocating seven Tribal mandals to Andhra Pradesh State after bifurcation. He took serious exception to Chandrababu and Venkaiah for provoking the people of the region by saying that they will build Polavaram project at any cost. At the behest of Venkaiah Naidu, Rao alleged, Chandrababu impressed upon the Centre to exert pressure on President Pranab Mukherjee to issue an ordinance for benefiting the AP State. He sought to know why the Centre issued such an ordinance blindly without going into the details and objections being raised by all political parties.
It is totally undemocratic and unethical to issue such an ordinance which was issued at the cost of Telangana Tribals. The Tribals are part and parcel of our region and unwilling to move an inch from their existing place, he said. The Centre instead can call a meeting of four Chief Ministers of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Chattisgarh to resolve the issue amicably, he said. Mere issuing of an ordinance unmindful of Telangana State Government or its people is totally wrong, he observed. He said th two Naidus were trying to provoke people of the Telangana by doing favor to Andhra Pradesh State. Venkaiah, he said, should not forget that he is the union Minister who cannot just confine to Andhra Pradesh alone. (NSS)
