A 34-year-old Indian-origin man named M Krishnan is accused of the murder of a woman in Singapore, who was found dead in a rented apartment, according to a media report.
According to a court document, he allegedly killed a 40-year-old woman named Mallika Begum Rahamansa Abdul Rahman in an apartment in the northern housing estate of Woodlands on Wednesday night.
The police said the two were allegedly in a relationship and both had frequent fights. She was found lying motionless inside a room when the police arrived at the murder scene after receiving a call at 1:34 am on Thursday, the report said.
The police managed to apprehend the accused a few hours after he fled the scene. If the accused Krishnan is convicted of murder, he will face the death penalty.
Bail was granted to him today and he was remanded at the Central Police Division. The next hearing for the case has been set for January 25.
