Pof. Iqbal Ahmed selected for “Dr. Mumtaz Ahmed Khan Award”

Hyderabad: Prof. K.R. Iqbal Ahmed, Director, Directorate of Distance Education, Maulana Azad National Urdu University has been selected for the prestigious “Dr. Mumtaz Ahmed Khan Award,” which is given annually by the Al-Ameen Movement, “in recognition of his exemplary and yeoman services dedicated to the community in particular and the society at large.”

The award will be presented to Prof. Ahmed on the occasion of the Founder’s Day of the society at Al-Ameen Campus, Bangalore on September 6, 2017.

Prof. Ahmed is a prolific writer, thinker and educational expert. He has authored more than 16 books in English, Urdu and Kannada. One of his contributions is his translation of great Urdu poets Iqbal and Ghalib in Kannada.

Prof. Ahmed has delivered extension lectures on “Indian thought and philosophy” in United Arab Emirates and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

He has also worked as the secretary of Kannada Literary Council. He was member of the Senate and Academic Council of Bangalore University, member of the Kannada University Syndicate, and member of the Film Censor Board.
