Poet-writer Nida Fazli remembered at Akaro-hosted musical evening

New Delhi : The Akaro Association for Education and Social Welfare and Multimedia Communications recently organized a musical evening in memory of popular writer and poet Nida Fazli.

The event was held at the Mavalankar Auditorium. Union Minister of State for Textiles and Parliamentary Affairs Santosh Gangwar was the chief guest and placed a wreath before the portrait of Nida Fazli.

Speaking on the occasion, Gangwar said that his one regret was that he had never got an opportunity to listen to Nida Fazli’s poetry, but had read several of his works and realized that Fazli thought, spoke and wrote from a common man’s perspective, and therefore, was well tuned to giving a truthful depiction of life away from the glitz.

The ghazal program was emceed by Padma Shri and veteran actor Tom Alter, who worked with Nida Fazli Saheb and shared his memories of him with the audience.

Nida Fazli was born Muqtida Hasan Nida Fazli on October 12, 1938 in Delhi and died on February 8, 2016 aged 77. He was poet, novelist and lyricist. (ANI)
