The Telangana Government today urged the Centre to allocate adequate funds for development of Agriculture and its allied sectors in the State and set up a Horticulture University.
Talking to mediapersons , Pocharam Srinivas Reddy told media persons here on Wednesday, Pocharam Srinivas Reddy called on Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh and urged him to allocate needed funds for his department and allied sectors like fisheries, horticulture, dairy development and poultry. The meeting of Srinivas Reddy with Radha Mohan Singh assumes significance in the wake of the Centre’s exercise to allocate budgets to all the States after obtaining their budgetary requisites. “I have asked the Union minister to allocate adequate funds for our department and setting up of a horticulture university in the State”, he said.
Pocharam said, “The Union Minister has assured me of giving adequate funds to Telangana State by taking necessary steps”. He also exuded confidence that the Centre would allot required funds to the State. Reddy also submitted a detailed report to the Union minister seeking funds. “The TRS Government is pro-farmers and offers all financial assistance and timely succor to allied sectors. We will implement policies to enable the farming community to reap in benefits through various schemes”, he added. (NSS)
