Pocharam to quit TDP for TRS

Banswada, January 4: The TDP MLA, Mr Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, has decided to quit the party and join the TRS to join the fight for Telangana.

Talking to mediapersons after a meeting of his supporters, Mr Reddy said that they have said that he should join a party that was actively fighting for the Telangana cause. He said that he was constrained to accept the overwhelming opinion of his supporters. He would inform the TDP chief of his decision after going to Hyderabad, he added.

“The TRS was going ahead with a clear stand on Telangana. Hence, I have decided to join that party and be in the mainstream of the fight. I am a staunch advocate of Telangana and had participated in the 1969 movement as a student”, he said.

Mr Reddy said that the TDP had given a report to the Pranab Mukherji committee supporting the formation of Telangana and had even had truck with the TRS during the last elections. “Now we do not have a clear stand on Telangana. I cannot remain in the party and be helpless. So I have decided to join the TRS honoring the opinion expressed by my supporters, he added.
