Agriculture Minister P Srinivas Reddy today downplayed the BJP protest at the C Block and making allegations over the failure of the state government in using Rs 899 cr funds released by the Centre for input subsidy.
The minister said the government was according top priority for the welfare of the farmers. He took serious objection to the BJP leaders for shedding “crocodile tears” by staging the protest at the Secretariat. Reacting on the BJP leaders conducting a protest dharna at C Block on Thursday, the minister stated that the government was not neglecting the issues of the farmers.
The TRS Government on coming to power waived off the crop loans pending for five years, Srinivas Reddy said. “We will soon release the funds towards loan waiver and take necessary steps”, he claimed. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was making sincere efforts for the welfare of the farmers and began loan waiver, the minister said. The BJP should try to convince the Centre to release funds for drought relief and crop loss due to heavy rains, he suggested.
The credit of giving 8 hour power to the farm sector goes to the government the minister said. Besides lakes restoration through Mission Kakatiya the government launched many welfare schemes and gave remunerative prices for paddy, maize and other crops. The BJP should notice the development being done and refrain from creating confusion and panic among the farmers, he added. (NSS)
