PNV Prasad Refutes Cong Allegations ON Emaar Deal

Hyderabad, August 13: Demanding a comprehensive inquiry into the alleged irregularities in the APIIC regarding Emaar Poperties, the former SAAP chairman and Kadapa MP Mr YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s loyalist, Mr PNV Prasad said that the government has to do justice to the victimized farmers and plot owners of the original land.

Mr Prasad also wondered over the allegations of Congress senior leaders Dr DL Ravindra Reddy, Mr JC Diwakar Reddy and Mr G Veera Shiva Reddy, and demanded the government to expose the fact that why they were making the allegations at this juncture.

Speaking to the media at the residence of the suspended PCC general Secretary Mr Ambati Rambabu here on Thursday, the former TDP leader said that he wants to disclose some truths about the issue so that the people would know what actually had happened.

He stated that the Emaar Properties issue was started in the year of 2000 only during Mr Chandrababu Naidu’s regime, and not in 2002 as said by the former ministers Dr D L Ravindra Reddy and Mr JC Diwakar Reddy. He said that Mr Koneru Prasad, who was very close to the then chief minister Mr Chandrababu Naidu, was the person behind the issue, and G.O No. 369 was issued on September 4, 2002 allotting the said land to Emaar Properties. Out of 535 acres allotted to the Emaar Properties, 435 acres of land belongs to the government and the remaining land belongs to the farmers and others.

Mr Prasad said that Mr Chandrababu Naidu had appointed a ‘Study Team’ under his chairmanship to look into the matter, when the farmers protested against taking their land at meager rate. The farmers’ expressed their anguish at the government for paying Rs 5 lakh per acre against the market rate of Rs 20 lakh per acre, he said and added that Mr Chandrababu Naidu was least bothered about the recommendations made by the ‘Study Team’ about the farmers. He said that Mr Naidu had not responded even when he took the farmers to the latter.

The then government had allotted 235 acres of land to Golf Course and the remaining land to the Star Hotels and Convention Centres. The TRS senior leader Mr Nayani Narsimha Reddy, BJP senior leader Mr Bandaru Dattatreya, MRPS leader Mr Manda Krishna Madiga, the present MLC Mr Jupudi Prabhakar Rao, CPI and CPM leaders had participated in the farmers’ protest programme, he said.

He said that later in 2004, the Congress came to power and the then government reviewed the Emaar Properties issue and appointed a ‘Study Committee’ under the chairmanship of none other than the present Chief Minister Mr K Rosaiah. He also revealed that the senior IAS officer Mr BP Acharya was the vice-chairman of the APIIC, and denied any information when the former sought.

Refuting the allegations against the former APIIC chairman Mr Ambati Rambabu, Mr Prasad demanded an inquiry into the alleged irregularities, or the Chief Minister Mr Rosaiah, as the then ‘Study Committee’ chairman, has to disclose the details of the APIIC irregularities in awarding the land to the Emaar Properties. Admitting that the Emaar Prorties didn’t have the right to transfer the entire land to the Emaar-MGF Company against the agreement with the APIIC, Mr Prasad demanded the government to order an inquiry into the illegal transfer to know the persons behind the transfer.

Refusing to comment when asked whether Mr Rosaiah had his role in this issue, Mr Prasad demanded the government to take back the lands from the Emaar-MGF Company and do justice to the old beneficiaries.
