New Delhi, May 25: After the press conference of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh coinciding with the UPA-II’s one year in office a lot is being talked about his terms with Congress president Sonia Gandhi. Dismissing speculations Congress today said “all is well” between Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi, pointing to divergence of views between the party and the government in the wake of the Prime Minister’s press conference. “There is no need to read between the lines.

The Prime Minister laid out the roadmap of governance for the UPA-II government in his press interaction,” AICC General Secretary B K Hariprasad said. Party spokesman Shakeel Ahmed said the Prime Minister was “straightforward and forthright” on all issues of national importance.

“He (PM) tried to answer and explain issues of governance and those related to the people to the nation and the media,” Ahmed said. AICC General Secretary Janardan Dwivedi said, “The Prime Minister”s press conference was plain and straight.

” Dwivedi, who is also Chairman if the AICC media department, said “There cannot be a more perfect relationship between a PM and party President as exists between Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi.” Besides, Dwivedi recalled that Singh was projected as Prime Minister of the UPA ahead of the Lok Sabha elections last year.

His remarks came in the context of Singh ruling out retirement saying his tasks remain “unfinished” but offered to make way for a younger leader if the Congress party wanted that.
