Telangana State BJP president Dr K Laxman today asserted that a slew of measures announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi after 50 days of demonetization for farmers, senior citizens, small enterprises, women and the rural poor would help further accelerate growth of the country.
Addressing the first media conference of the 2017 new year at State party office at Nampally here on Sunday, Laxman said the Prime Minister’s historic bold decision of demonetization of big currency notes to check black money and corruption and yesterday’s announcements are big boon for rural and downtrodden people of the country. Welcoming the gifts of sorts, Laxman said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has created an atmosphere in the country that he and his government was committed for welfare and development of the people, particularly the poor. The State BJP chief exhorted the people to continue to extend cooperation to the Prime Minister, who was determined to check out black money and corruption as they have already supported his historic action of scraping of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes. Taking a dig at the Opposition parties, particularly the Congress, Laxman said that party was unable to digest the popularity and support of the people to the Prime Minister.
Detailing various measures announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Laxman also stressed the need to give importance to agriculture and housing sectors. He said the Prime Minister has announced special housing scheme under Pradhan Mantri Awas Jojana with an intention to provide housing for poor in rural and urban areas. Besides conversion of kisan credit cards as Rupay card to farmers, credit guarantee to MSMEs, 8% interest to senior citizens on deposits up to to Rs 7.5 lakh for ten years and financial help of Rs 6,000 to pregnant women to meet medical expenses are gift of sorts to citizens, who faced problems by standing in queues after demonetization decision.
The State BJP president asked the TRS government to convene a meeting of Bankers and hold discussions to provide benefits to people as announced by the Prime Minister. The State government should work as a bridge between the people and the bankers, he added. (NSS)
