New Delhi, April 14: With the Prime Minister’s Office forwarding the Shunglu Committee’s report to the Home Ministry for its response on the panel’s findings with regard to the CWG scam, Opposition BJP on Wednesday feared it could be a cover-up attempt. The BJP lashed out at Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress chief Sonia Gandhi for defending corrupt leaders and blamed the two leaders for trying to cover-up every scam involving the ruling party leaders.
“BJP disapproves the dilly-dallying by the PMO regarding the action on the six reports submitted by Shunglu Committee on the corruption and irregularities in the organisation of CWG 2010,” party spokesman Prakash Javadekar told reporters here on Wednesday.
The Opposition party said the Government had ruled against a JPC on Commonwealth Games promising that all reports of this high-level committee will be sent to the CBI for further investigation and action.
“Now, the Government seems to be dithering on the delivery of the promise, as the reports directly held Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit, and other UPA Ministers along with Suresh Kalmadi, as responsible for the mess and the loot. This is nothing but yet another cover-up operation of one of the worst scams India has ever witnessed,” Javadekar said.
