PMO accelerates implementation of infrastructure projects in J-K

New Delhi, Mar. 22 (ANI): The Prime Minister”s Office (PMO) has pushed for faster implementation of infrastructure projects in Jammu and Kashmir.

A meeting was held in the Prime Minister”s Office yesterday to review the progress of various infrastructure projects covered under the PM”s Reconstruction Plan for Jammu and Kashmir and certain announcements made by PM concerning Jammu and Kashmir.

The meeting, which was chaired by Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, was attended by the Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir and Secretaries of the concerned Ministries of the Central Government.

During the course of the deliberations, the progress of various projects covering the railways, power, civil aviation, food processing, tourism and textiles sectors were discussed in detail with a view to accelerating the pace of implementation of identified projects and fixing time for their completion.

Following deadlines were mutually decided:

The Banihal Quazigund section of the Jammu – Udhampur – Srinagar – Baramulla rail line is to be commissioned in April-May, 2013.

Power transmission and distribution network strengthening works in Jammu and Kashmir region is to be completed by March, 2014.

The Chutak HEP is to be fully commissioned by October, 2013.

Nimoo – Bazgo HEP is to be completed by December, 2013.

Secretaries of the Central Government have been asked to intensively monitor the progress in the implementation of these projects.

The Prime Minister”s Office is geared to convene a series of meetings in the near future to ensure that the timelines are met. (ANI)
