PM, Sonia owe explanation to nation: Gadkari

Hyderabad, June 08: BJP president Nitin Gadkari has demaned an apology from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi over the delay in not implementing Supreme Court verdict on Afzal Guru, who was awarded death sentence in connection with an attack on Parliament.

He said that if they did not tender apology within eight days, BJP would launch a nation-wide agitation. He alleged that `vote bank considerations’ is forcing the Congress party to keep the matter pending.

Speaking at a party workers conference – Navachaitanya Sadassu – here today, he said both the Congress and the UPA government were destroying the nation. The country is facing several problems because of the wrong polices of the UPA government. The BJP leader while, quoting several reports, which were submitted to the Planning Commission said that due to the ill-advised policies of the UPA, the number of BPL families have been increasing day by day in the country. Their number had already crossed 41 crores in the country. He said that whenever the Congress came to power, the prices of essential commodities were increasing every year and said that government was not having any control on the price rise.

The BJP leader took strong objection to AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi’s statement on BJP led NDA proposed river linkage project that it was an impracticable idea. “If the BJP is voted to power in 2014 elections, the project would be implemented across the country and it would solve all the basic problems of the country’’ he elaborated.

Lashing at the state government, he said due the internal crises of the Congress party the day-to-day administration of the government remained paralysed in the state.

The BJP leader directed his party state unit to lead Telangana movement on its own and blamed the Congress for not resolving the issue. He reiterated party’s commitment on Telangana and dared the UPA to introduce bill in the Parliament.

If at all it does, the BJP was ready to support the bill, he said. BJP state president G Kishan Reddy, BJP senior leaders M Venkaiah Naidu, Bangaru Laxman, and party national, state committee leaders also addressed the conference.
