PM should clarify Batla House encounter-BJP

Lucknow, January 15:Demanding clarification from Prime Minister Mnmohan Singh over the Batla House encounter case, the BJP today said that the Congress wants to implement the agenda of the banned outfit Islamic Movement of India(SIMI) by raking up the encounter issue after more than 3 years.

BJP national vice-president and spokesperson Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said here that Congress General secretarty Digvijaya Singh is claiming that the Batla House encounter was a fake one but the PM and Union Home Minister P Chidambaran is saying the opposite.

Only the PM could clear the confusion and clarify about the encounter,” he told media persons here.

The aim of the Congress is to implement the agenda of SIMI just to garner votes of the Muslim during the assembly polls, he alleged.

Mr Naqvi said that the Congress reaction saying that the statements of Digvijay Singh and Union Law Minister Salman Khursheed over 9 per cent reservation to the Muslims were their personal version,also proves that there is a difference of opinion between the party leaders.

He also said that the party has released the candidates ist for 381 seats in UP so far with giving adequate representation to every community and caste. The party has given ticket to 123 backwards, 83 dalits in the list besides
out of them 43 are women and 162 are youths.

The party has also fielded four former BJP state presidents and one present president, 27 ex-ministers and one muslim candidate. Out of the total candidates announced so far 131 are first timer.

Meanwhile the party has chalked out a strategy for extensive campaigning by the senior leaders in the state from January 31.

Gujarat Chief Minister Naraendra Modi would be one of the star campaigner and would hold election meetings in all the seven phases of the polls.

Besides Modi, other senior leaders including Lal Krishna Advani and BJP president Nitin Gadkari would also be campaigning in the state.
