PM refuses to see reality, is in state of denial: TRS

Hyderabad, November 14: The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) on Sunday slammed and condemned Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s remarks favouring an all-party consensus on Telangana.

TRS chief K Chandrasekhara Rao said the PM failed to read the ground situation in Telangana. “The Centre and our Prime Minister have failed to see the democratic aspirations of the people here,’’ he said. “This is unfair and they continuously refused to accept our legitimate demand.’’

KCR’s son K T Rama Rao said the Congress at the Centre could easily table the Bill for formation of a separate state of Telangana and it would be easily passed as the main opposition party BJP had already assured of its support to Telangana. “Centre is complicating the issue,’’ he said. “There is no clarity. The Centre, Congress and PM have made five different statements in the past few weeks.’’

“We strongly condemn the attitude of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his statement made Saturday. The Prime Minister refuses to see the reality; he is in a state of denial is what we believe. He has scant respect and utter disregard for the democratic aspirations for the people of Telangana,’’ K T Rao said.

Several Congress MPs from Telangana too expressed disappointment over the PM’s remarks. “People of Telangana who are fighting for a separate state and making all kinds of sacrifices are shocked and feel betrayed by the PM’s remarks,’’ said Nizamabad MP Madhu Yakshi Goud, adding that all elected representatives of Telangana would meet Congress president Sonia Gandhi and urge her to make efforts to bring Telangana demand to fruition.
