PM Narendra Modi’s morphed photo with Owiasi lands Karnataka Muslim youth in jail

Bengaluru: A 25-year-old youth was arrested by Gangavati town police in Koppal district of north Karnataka for allegedly posting a morphed photo of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on a social media site.

Mohammed Mehboob, a jewellery shop employee on social media showed Modi touching the feet of Telangana Legislative Assembly member Akbaruddin Owaisi from All-India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) party.

According to police, he had allegedly posted the photo on his Facebook page on May 7. A case has been filed under Section 153A of the IPC for promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion.

Police official said, “We have registered a case based on a complaint lodged by Manohar Gowda, the Gangavathi town president of the BJP, and have arrested the accused person.”

Mehaboob, however, claims that he did not morph the picture but used it as he received it from friends. According to the police, a picture where Modi is seen seeking the blessings of BJP patriarch LK Advani was morphed to create the new picture.
