PM Modi’s unfulfilled promises

Hyderabad: The performance of the Modi government over the last three and a half years has been far from satisfactory and the poll promises given during 2014 Lok Sabha polls hasn’t been realised yet.

The achhe din promised by Modi government in his election speeches in early 2014 hasn’t yet became a reality.

In the ongoing campaign for Gujarat assembly polls, people protested with Black flags at PM Modi’s rally at Ambaji.

The three years of the NDA produced 1.7% growth in agriculture. In the last three years of the UPA, agriculture sector grew by 3.5%.
The fact, however, remains that Modi made a huge promise of ensuring 50% profit over costs to all farmers. A promise that his government has not been able to keep.

A young boy below 10 years speaks on Modi Goverenment:

Later, the agriculture ministry scaled down its commitment by saying farmer’s income would be doubled by 2022. This would mean at least 10-12% growth in their income every year until 2022. Recently, the Niti Aayog has said even this will be difficult to achieve because farmer incomes have hardly shown any significant growth over the last three years.

PM Modi had promised to eliminate criminals from politics. He reiterated his promise in his first speech in the Parliament, where he assured the House of fast-tracking cases against such politicians.

However, three years since he came into power, nothing has been done in this regard. On the contrary, one-third of PM Modi Government Cabinet Ministers face criminal charges, and nearly one-fifth face serious criminal charges such as rape, attempt to murder, murder and kidnapping.

The real shock to the economy came from the demonetisation decision taken by Modi government on November 8, 2016. In India, 90% of the work force is engaged in unorganized sector which heavily depends upon cash. Due to cash crunch, many workers of these sectors lost their jobs. This resulted in increase in unemployment situation in the country.
The another disruptive reform was GST whose benefits will flow depending on the way it is implemented. Already people are not yet healed from the shocks of demonetisation, the GST gave another shock to small businesses.
