New Delhi, Aug. 30 : Reacting to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Mann ki Baat’ where he had declared the Dhan Jan Yojana as a success, Congress leader Manish Tewari said here on Sunday said that the entire scheme was an ‘extortionist construct’ where money was being wrested from the pockets of the poor, as there was no more investment flowing into the country.
“The entire speech was about dhan ki baat, where was Mann ki Baat? There is no investment that is flowing to the country and therefore, their ‘dhan pashu’ friends are getting restive and thus are trying to put their hands into the pockets of the poor to extract money in the name of Dhan Jan Yojana,” Tewari told ANI here.
The Congress leader asserted that the Yojana was an extortionist construct where as a result of the government’s policies, no more investment was flowing into the country.
He also said that the Indian banking system does not work for the poor but only works for the capitalist.
“The Indian banking system only works for the capitalist and for the oligarchs. They take from the poor and give it to the rich and then the rich do not give it back to the banking system,” Tewari added.
He accused the Prime Minister of taking money from the poor instead of fixing the already flawed system and branded the entire scheme as ‘exploitative’.
Training his guns on the Patel community protest in Gujarat, Tewari said the Prime Minister’s Gujarat model was a complete failure.
“The model is an exercise of complete hypocrisy and farce. The Patels are a successful community in the world and if their youth had to come out on the streets like that, it shows the complete collapse of the Gujarat model,” he said.
Prime Minister Modi had earlier today addressed his 11th Mann ki Baat, where he spoke about the financial plans and schemes launched by his government. He congratulated the people for opening bank accounts under the Jan Dhan Yojana, which till now has gathered more than Rs. 22 crores this year. (ANI)
