New Delhi: Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyyar on Monday alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will fail post the presentation of General Budget for 2016-17 as it is not in tune with his call for ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’.
“The Prime Minister will fail there is no doubt in it because the economy survey states that when the Indian economy grows at seven percent, the agriculture sector grows at a mere one percent, which means that two-third of our population hasn’t been inculcated in this growth. Where is Prime Minister’s call for ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’?” Aiyyar told ANI when asked to comment on Prime Minister Modi’s remark that he has an examination as the nation looks forward to the General Budget.
“When there are no employment opportunities being generated in the country, where is the question of him getting passed?” he added.
When asked to comment on what he expected from the Budget, Aiyyar said: “Let’s see what he does for the agriculture sector.”
Prime Minister Modi had in the 17th edition of his ‘Mann ki Baat’ programme yesterday said that he was “full of confidence” ahead of his “examination” by 125 crore people, a trait which he wanted students to emulate when they appear for their examinations for Class X and XII.
He emphasised that the students should appear for the exams with a “positive approach”, having a free and calm mind without any anxiety.
Meanwhile, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley is presenting the General Budget in Parliament. (ANI)
