PM Modi to visit Odisha on Mar 29, Apr 1

Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Odisha on March 29 and April 1, state BJP spokesperson Golak Mohapatra said here on Sunday.

“Prime Minister Modi will visit Odisha’s Jeypore constituency in Koraput district on March 29. On April 1, he is slated to visit Kalahandi district,” Mohapatra told ANI.

Ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit, six senior leaders of the party would visit the state to attend Vijay Sankalp Samavesh, he said.

“Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Ministers Sanjay Paswan, R K Singh, Ramvichar Netam, Radha Mohan Singh and Jayan Singh will visit Odisha to attend the grand programme of the party,” the spokesperson said.

BJP on Friday released a list of 36 candidates for LokSabha polls in AndhraPradesh, Assam, Maharashtra and Odisha.

The party has fielded its national spokesperson Sambit Patra from Puri (Odisha), Girish Bapat from Pune (Maharashtra), Dilip Kumar Kilaru from Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh), Bharati Pawar from Dindori (Maharashtra) and Sanbor Shullai from Shillong (Meghalaya).

The decision was taken after a meeting of the Central Election Committee of BJP in the national capital attended by the Prime Minister, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj among others.

The seven-phased Lok Sabha elections will begin from April 11 and end on May 19. The counting of votes will take place on May 23.

Odisha has 21 Lok Sabha and 147 Assembly seats and the state will witness simultaneous elections in the first four phases, April 11, 18, 23 and 29.
