New Delhi : Expressing gratitude for bestowing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) with their mandate, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday thanked the people of New Delhi for choosing the saffron party.
Taking to Twitter, the Prime Minister lauded the endeavours of the leaders of the saffron cadre in making the big win possible.
“Grateful to people of Delhi for faith in BJP. I laud hardwork of team BJP which made the resounding MCD win possible,” Prime Minister Modi tweeted.
Trends for all 270 seats for Delhi civic polls indicate BJP leading in 187, Congress 40 and Aam Aadmi Party on 37 seats.
As per latest figures, BJP is set to win 180 seats while, AAP is leading in 45 seats. Congress is leading in 35 seats while other parties including independents are set to claim 10 seats.
Taking responsibility of the defeat, Delhi Congress president Ajay Maken announced that he would resign from the post.
Voting for three new municipal corporations in Delhi took place on Sunday, in which 54 percent of the 1.32 crore electorates exercised their franchise. (ANI)
