PM Modi takes a dig at his ‘secular’ critics

Taking a dig at his critics, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today appeared to dare his critics to pass judgment on his gifting Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe a copy of the Bhagawad Gita.

In his speech at a reception hosted by the Indian community in Tokyo, which he is visiting as part of his five-day bilateral tour to Japan, Prime Minister Modi said, “I brought the Bhagawad Gita to be gifted to Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. Seculars in India might be debating that Modi has made Bhagawad Gita also communal.”

Justifying his reasons for gifting his Japanese counterpart a copy of the Hindu holy text, Prime Minister Modi further said, “I don’t have anything better to be gifted than the Bhagawad Gita and the world can get nothing bigger than the Bhagawad Gita.”

Prime Minister Modi, who will be meeting Japanese Emperor Akihito later today, concludes his three-day visit of Japan on Wednesday. (ANI)
