New Delhi : Minister of State for Tourism, Culture and Civil Aviation Mahesh Sharma on Thursday heaped praise on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for making a major contribution in the tourism sector. He said that it is because of Prime Minister Modi that perception of India has changed before the world and he is the real ambassador of the country.
Sharma, who was commenting on the completion of two years of the NDA regime in office, said Prime Minister Modi has always given priority to tourism because he knows it is a big source of revenue for the nation.
“The perception of India has changed before the world significantly in the last two years,” added Sharma.
“I would say that Prime Minister Modi is ambassador of the tourism ministry. He has exponentially changed the image of India before the world. The whole world is looking at us to lead their way. There has been a great boost to the ministry ever since the BJP Government came to power,” he added.
The minister also highlighted the fact that it was because of the personal interest of Prime Minister Modi that India stands at 52nd spot in the World Economic Forum, as compared to the earlier ranking of 65.
“When we came to power, we were given a system that was rusted. There were loans of more than Rs. 50, 000 crore on Air India. Today, after 12 years, we have been able to bring operational profit to the national carrier. For this, our transparent schemes and their implementation are responsible,” he said. (ANI)
