PM Modi, President Pranab Mukherjee greet nation on Diwali

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday greeted nation on the festival of Diwali. “Warm greetings to every citizen on the festival of Diwali, Happy Diwali,” Modi tweeted.

Diwali, the festival of lights is one of the most popular Hindu festivals in India.

President Pranab Mukherjee also greeted people on Diwali saying may it dispel “darkness of ignorance” and “illumine our lives with hope and prosperity”.

“Warm greetings and best wishes to all my fellow citizens in India and abroad on the auspicious occasion of Diwali,” Mukherjee wrote in a series of tweets.

The President also said that let us on this day try to bring happiness in the lives of the needy by lighting the lamp of love, care and sharing.

Highlighting the importance of the festival, Mukherjee said, “Diwali signifies the triumph of righteousness and victory of good over evil.”
