Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his 67th death anniversary, and to every martyr who laid down his or her life for the nation.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to twitter to share his reverence for the Father of the Nation.
“My tributes to Pujya Bapu,” tweeted Prime Minister Modi.
“On Martyrs’ Day I pay homage to each and every Martyr who laid his or her life for our Nation. Their bravery and courage will always inspire,” he added.
Gujarat is paying rich tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary as the entire state will observe two minutes silence at 11 a.m.
An all-religion prayer meeting has been organised at the Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad and Kirti Mandir in Porbandar, the birth place of Mahatma Gandhi.
Prominent leaders from various political parties and other dignitaries will pay floral tributes at Raj Ghat in New Delhi.
The day is also observed as Martyrs’ Day. On this day in 1948, Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated at a prayer meeting. (ANI)
