PM Modi meets US Defense Secretary Hagel

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reportedly met United States Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel here on Tuesday.

During their meeting at Blair House in the heart of the American capital, the two leaders reportedly discussed ways of taking bilateral defence cooperation between the two countries forward. Further details of the meeting are awaited.

Chuck Hagel is the 24th Secretary of Defense of the United States of America. He assumed the office of Secretary of Defense on February 27, 2013.

Hagel is a Senator from Nebraska who has served in the army during the Vietnam War.

He has in the past served as a professor at the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University, chairman of the Atlantic Council and co-chairman of the President’s Intelligence Advisory Board.

Prior to his appointment as Secretary of Defense, Hagel served on a number of boards of directors, including that of Chevron Corporation.

Earlier this morning, Prime Minister paid his tribute at the Mahatma Gandhi statue located in front of the Indian Embassy.

Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to meet US President Barack Obama at the Oval Office today for the summit meeting. (ANI)
