Meeting on the sidelines of the ongoing Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors Summit in Gandhinagar, the duo discussed counter terror cooperation between the two nations. During the meeting, Prime Minister Modi also condemned the recent attack on Canada ‘s Parliament, adding that he looked forward to visiting that nation.
Prime Minister Modi also met UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon during which issues related to climate change, environment and clean energy came up for discussion. During their talks, the Prime Minister highlighted the initiatives taken by the BJP government at the Centre in the clean and renewable energy sectors.
In another engagement, Prime Minister Modi and US Secretary of State John Kerry discussed the upcoming visit of US President Barack Obama to India. Both sides agreed that the visit would add momentum to the India-US strategic partnership and expressed satisfaction that issues relating to WTO Trade Facilitation had been satisfactorily resolved. The two leaders also discussed counter-terror cooperation, economic matters, and issues of regional interest.
Among the Prime Minister’s other engagements were that with Israel Agriculture Minister Yair Shamir, Iran President’s Senior Advisor Dr. Akbar Torkan, World Bank president Jim Yong Kim, Macedonia Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski and Russian city Astrakhan’s Governor Alexander Zhilkin.
Earlier in the day, industrialists attending the summit from across the world hailed Prime Minister Modi as an ‘inspiring leader’, adding that under his helm, India’s future looks bright.
Around 50,000 delegates from India and 1,800 others from 105 countries are said to be participating in the summit. (ANI)
