Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday lauded the efforts by cricket stars Suresh Raina and Shikhar Dhawan in their initiatives in the Swachh Bharat Andolan. Raina had been nominated by the Prime Minister to participate in the cleanliness drive earlier this month.
Prime Minister Modi took to twitter to praise the efforts by the two southpaws.
“Well done @ImRaina and Shikhar Dhawan! I welcome this effort towards a Clean India!” he wrote, also retweeting pictures posted by Raina.
The Prime Minister also commended the efforts by playback singer Udit Narayan, comedian Raju Srivastava and former cricketer Saba Karim.
“I welcome this effort by Udit Narayan and Saba Karim. This will strengthen the efforts towards a Swachh Bharat,” he tweeted.
“Raju Srivastava’s joining the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan is extremely laudable,” he added.
The Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was launched by Prime Minster Modi on the 145th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The campaign, which was launched nationwide on October 2, focuses on sanitation, hygiene and waste management.
The Swachh Bharat Abhiyan aims at making India a clean country by 2019, the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. (ANI)
