New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday greeted the people on the occasion of first Constitution Day.
Prime Minister Modi hoped that the day will inspire people to know more about the Indian Constitution.
“This day is a tribute to all those great women & men who worked tirelessly to give India a Constitution we are very proud of,” he said in a tweet.
He also called on people to uphold the ideals and values of the Constitution and create an India that will make the founding fathers proud.
Saluting the architect of the Constitution Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, Prime Minister Modi said that no mention of the Constitution was complete without remembering the stellar contribution of Dr Ambedkar.
Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan had yesterday said that the first two days of the Winter Session of Parliament, starting from today, would be dedicated to the commemoration of the adoption of Indian Constitution on November 26, 1949.
The events of today and tomorrow will be a part of the year-long nationwide celebrations to mark the 125th birth anniversary of Dr. Ambedkar, who played a seminal role in the framing of the Indian Constitution as the Chairman of the Drafting Committee of Constituent Assembly. Members of parliament across the political spectrum will participate in the discussion. (ANI)
