PM Modi acted as Ambani’s middleman: Rahul Gandhi on Rafale row

NEW DELHI: In his relentless attack, Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday came out with an email interaction dated March 28, 2015 accusing PM Modi of acting as a middleman for Anil Ambani in the Rafale jet contract.

While addressing a press conference in the national capital on Rafale row, Congress president Rahul Gandhi attacked on Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and said:

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji is acting as the middleman of Anil Ambani. This email is clear. An Airbus executive wrote that Anil Ambani met the French Defence Minister and told him 10 days before the Rafale deal was signed that he was going to get it.”

“Now, PM needs to answer how did Anil Ambani knew 10 days in advance of the Rafale deal. Defence Minister, Hindustan Aeronautical Limited (HAL), Foreign Secretary don’t know but Anil Ambani knew.”

nly PM Modi could have told Anil Ambani about the deal in advance, he alleged. “This is treason. He (Modi) is doing what spies do,” Gandhi said.

The Congress supremo further alleged that the Prime Minister is involved in corruption.

“Sharing the defence information with Anil Ambani is itself a criminality. If this is true then PM is in violation of official secrets act, criminal action must be initiated on this basis,” he added.

He also rejected the Comptroller and Auditor General report on the Rafale deal, and dubbed it “Chowkidar Auditor General” report.
