PM to make maiden visit to Telangana on Aug 7

Hyderabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to make his maiden visit to Telangana on August 7 during which he will lay foundation stones of different projects collectively worth around Rs 17,000 crore.

On August 7, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in the launch of the first phase of ‘Mission Bhagiratha’ (Telangana government’s piped drinking water scheme to every household) in Gajwel in Medak district, Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya told reporters.

From there, through remote control, he will lay foundation stones for different projects, including NTPC’s 1,600 MW thermal power plant and revival of a fertiliser plant at Ramagundam in Karimnagar district, the Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment said.

The NTPC power plant would be constructed at a cost of Rs 10,599 crore and will be completed by 2020, while an estimated Rs 5,200 crore will be spent on the fertiliser plant, which will be completed within a span of 36 months, he said.

The PM will also lay the foundation stone for the 152 km Manoharabad-Kothapalli railway line, which will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 1,160 crore, the minister said.

The state government needs to acquire 1,270 acres of land for this railway line project, Dattatreya said and expressed hope that the process for acquiring the land will be completed soon.

Later, the PM will address ‘Maha Sammelan’, a meeting of BJP’s booth-level workers in Telangana at L B Stadium here. Over one lakh party workers will participate in the event, he said.
