Senior BJP leader and former Union minister Ch. Vidyasagar Rao has said while Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, instead of owning moral responsibility for various scam, especially Coal scam and step down from the post honorably, cleverly made his cabinet colleagues resign from their posts to save his skin. The Prime Minister’s actions clearly proved that the Union government was compromising with corruption, he added.
Speaking to the media at the State BJP office here on Saturday, Vidyasagar Rao said Dr Manmohan Singh should have resigned from his post as the portfolio of Coal Ministry was held by him and the inquired confirmed that a big scam had occurred with regard to the coal. Stating that Dr Manmohan Singh was not a political leader, but an economist, Rao said the Prime Minister was in a quandary whether he had to resign from post or not.
Stating that the people of the country want Narendra Modi to be Prime Minister, Rao said “Modi as PM” and Telangana State would be the key issues in the 2014 elections. Narendra Modi’s name was a synonym for development, Vidyasagar said Modi has attracted worldwide attention for achieving monumental development in Gujarat. He said his party has chalked out a program of publicizing the welfare and development programs of Modi in Gujarat. As part of it, the State BJP would organized public meetings in the State.
The BJP leader also demanded that the State government immediately withdraw its order allotting Girijan lands in Bayyara of Khammam district to industrialists as it was unconstitutional ultra virus. In this connection, Rao pointed out to the historic judgment of Supreme Court of July 11 of 1997 that Girijan lands should not be allotted to others. Faulting the Governor for keeping silent on the issue, he demanded that the former exercise his constitutional powers vested in him and scrap the erroneous GO. He also lashed out Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy for his arrogant style of functioning in this regard. (NSS)
