Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the Foundation stone for construction of a new Railway line between Manoharabad-Kothapalli, connecting Hyderabad and Karimnagar, apart from several other projects at a function held at Gajwel in Medak district on Sunday.
Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan, Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, Railways Minister Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu, Union Ministers M. Venkaiah Naidu, Piyush Goyal and Ananth Kumar were amongst a galaxy of dignitaries present on the occasion.
Addressing the huge gathering on the occasion, the Prime Minister said that the Centre and Telangana Government were joining hands to take up projects together reflects a positive sign of co-operative federalism towards taking the nation forward. Elaborating on the role of Railways in nation’s growth, he stated that rail connectivity is vital for development and infrastructure growth is the need which serves this task. Economic progress and Railway connectivity go hand in hand for National progress, he stressed.
Although the people of the state have wanted the rail line between Manoharabad and Kothapalli for a long time, their wish is fulfilled only today with the laying of foundation stone for the new line, the Prime Minister added and expressed confidence that the project will see fulfillment as scheduled.
The Chief Minister, in his speech, stated that the Manoharabad-Kothapalli new Railway line will basically serve as a much needed direct rail link connecting Hyderabad with Karimnagar. The taking up of this project fulfills a long cherished dream of the people, he added. He acknowledged that the dynamism of Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu in resolving issues very fast, which enabled the work on Hyderabad Metro Rail to proceed smooth.
Earlier, Bandaru Dattatreya, welcomed the Prime Minister, other dignitaries in his brief address. (INN)
