PM lays foundation stone for Amravati

A new chapter in country’s history has begun on Thursday with Prime Minister Narender Modi laying foundation stone for the construction of Amravati, the new capital of Andhra Pradesh State.

Being called the People’s Capital, Amravati is set to become the one of most modern cities in the world and would be among a few planned capital cities in India. Speaking after laying the foundation stone, the Prime Minister said, “Today Andhra Pradesh is taking a very important step. This is on the way to becoming a people’s capital. I congratulate the people and Government of the State.”  He said Amravati was on the way to becoming a people’s capital. He said both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana would reach new heights if they work together.

“When Chandrababu told me about this event, I said, I will surely come. But when I read N. Chandrababu Naidu met Telangana CM Chandrashekar Rao at his house and invited him I was very happy. I congratulate Chandrababu Naidu for this,” he said. “Be it Andhra Pradesh or Telangana, the soul is Telugu. Both states must progress. Both the states have the capability to progress. If they work together, they will reach new heights,” he added.

The Prime Minister praised Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for the efforts that he took for the new capital by integrating whatever is best across the world. He promised to provide all support to the development of AP. However, he did not mention anything about granting Special Status for the State although he asserted that all provisions made in the bifurcation law will be fulfilled. (INN)
