Bhubaneswar, December 26: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will lay the foundation stone of the proposed campus of the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) at Argul near here tomorrow.
Though the Orissa government was initially reluctant on Singh’s visit to Argul as there was no helipad, arrangements were made for one after the Prime Minister’s Office insisted that he would visit there as he was interested to do so, a senior home department official said here.
It was the Prime Minister himself who had announced establishment of an institute of scientific research and higher education of international standard here on August 28, 2006.
The Centre has sanctioned Rs 825 crore for the NISER, which would function under the Department of Atomic Energy.
