PM coming tomorrow

Hyderabad, October 08: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will tour the State on October 9 to make an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas of Krishna, Guntur and Nalgonda districts.

The State Government has started making necessary arrangements for the visit.

The prime minister will leave New Delhi by a special aircraft at 8.55 am and arrive at the Gannavaram airport, near Vijayawada, in Krishna district at about 11.20 am. Accompanied by Chief Minister K Rosaiah and others, he will then fly in an Army helicopter for an aerial survey of areas devastated by floods to the Krishna river.

After the survey, they will reach the Shamshabad airport in Hyderabad at about 12.45 pm, and will review the State’s flood situation with senior officials. Besides the chief minister, the ministers, chief secretary, senior officials of irrigation, revenue and other departments concerned will be present at the review meeting. The commissioner of disaster management will make a Power- Point presentation on floods. Singh will go through a photo exhibition on the devastation.

The prime minister is likely to make an aerial survey of flood-hit Kurnool, Nandyal and Mahaboobnagar areas before reaching Raichur in Karnataka.

After an aerial survey of the floodhit areas of the neighbouring State, he will come back to the Shamshabad airport and leave for New Delhi at about 5.15 pm by the special aircraft.

The chief minister will present a brief note to the prime minister on the immediate requirements for relief works.
