New Delhi: A video showing Prime Minister Narendra Modi pulling aside Mark Zuckerberg ostensibly to allow a clearer view to cameras at Facebook Headquarters has gone viral on social media with Congress taking potshots at the PM, saying he should not “behave like a school kid”.
“The Prime Minister should not behave like a school kid when he is abroad,” party spokesperson Shakeel Ahmed said when asked about the video.
The incident reportedly occurred before the start of the Townhall event in Silicon Valley on Sunday. In the video, Zuckerberg and the COO of Facebook Sheryl Sandberg are seen presenting a memento to Modi, who then holds Zuckerberg by his arm and pulls him by his side.
Ahmed said that the Prime Minister is known for “photo ops and event management as also packaging and repackaging” and for “spending much time” abroad.
“The Prime Minister should realise that that he is the leader of the world’s largest democracy and should not behave like a school kid while abroad,” he said.
Modi, who was on a two-nation tour of Ireland and the US, also travelled to West Coast where he visited Facebook Headquarters for a Townhall question and answer session with its CEO Mark Zuckerberg. He also visited Google campus and Tesla Motors.
The Prime Minister has an image of an Internet-savvy leader and is even keen on selfies.
